…and apparently I’m not a trendy hip guy anymore but I guess that comes with age because neither are any of my friends. What is it with the mountain man beards that guys in their 20’s and early 30’s are sporting these days? Just a few years ago it seemed like everyone had a goatee and while their still popular the amount of guys with beards to rival former Steeler defensive end Brett-The Diesel-Keisel seems to have exploded. I really didn’t notice until my neighbor grew one and realized their more popular than I thought. Some have suggested they could all be Penguin fans who started growing their beards two years ago for the playoffs and are afraid if they shave they’ll jinx the Pens chances of a 3rd Stanley Cup Championship. Nice but I don’t think so. Look at Pirate Pitcher Trevor Williams or 3rd baseman Colin Moran. Both have that mountain man kind of beard. Well Moran more than Williams but hey give him time. I just find it fascinating that the ZZ Top look which began in the late ‘70’s seems to have exploded and it just seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. Of course I might not be saying that if I was a trendy hip kind of guy but then again there’s nothing wrong with being a little slow on the uptake. I’ll eventually get it. I hope,
