It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and finally the games begin to count for real in the NFL as another season is about to unfold with the New England Patriots playing host to the Kansas City Chiefs. The annual kickoff game is usually the Thursday following Labor day and something that was first suggested in 2002 and became a reality in 2004 and features the previous seasons Superbowl winner as the host city who prior to the game will have a concert and other ceremonies. The Steelers as with the rest of the league plays on Sunday, Pittsburgh is at Cleveland for a 1 pm kickoff. Then week one concludes with a Monday night double header with New Orleans at Minnesota with a 7:10 kickoff followed by the LA Chargers, that’s going to take awhile to get used to, La Chargers who used to be in San Diego since Moby Dick was a Minnow but the Chargers will be in Denver for a 10:20 kickoff Monday night. Of course along with a new season a lot of folks are stoked for a new Fantasy Season. I must be in the minority when it comes to Fantasy Football leagues because I’m not in one and could care less hearing about who I should play or who I should sit each week. I gave it a try around 20 years ago for two seasons but got tired of that real quick and that was being in just one league while my son has been in as many as 4 and who knows maybe more. Back before Fantasy Football I ran a pool using the weekly betting line to decide winners and losers and did that for 10 or 12 years before that got old. Now, I just sit back and watch the games, well I might jump out of my chair one or two times maybe three when the Steelers are playing but that’s it. Like the Go Go’s sing “Sunday is my fun day” at least between now at February.
