Also, congratulations to Joseph Bonatesta for his promotion earlier this year to Corporal with Troop A, Greensburg. Corporal Bonatesta enlisted in the State Police in 2015.

In January, a visitor became unresponsive in the Inmate Visting Room. We’re recognizing the 10 employees, who worked together to save the life of the visitor to SCI Greene, Corrections Officers Ferguson, Gorman, Kuma, Mazon, Pavlic, Pinkney and Wilt as well as Nurses Jackson, Kiel and Price.

Highland Volunteer Fire Department
Highland Volunteer Fire Department’s 2025 Fire Fighter of the Year is Andreas Schermaier. Andreas joined Highland in October of 2024 and has already completed his required training and achieved Fire Fighter One status. Deputy Chief Brandon McCrea was recognized in 2025 for saving the life of a coworker who was badly injured on the job. Brandon, using the skills learned from the fire department training, was credited with saving the man’s life.
