It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and when I was young I loved looking forward to all the Christmas specials and movies with my family when I was a kid. Miracle on 34th street, the original Scrooge, Mr. Magoo’s Scrooge, Rudolph the Red nosed reindeer, Charlie Brown Christmas, the Grinch, Frosty the snowman… they were all part of the magic of the season. I remember checking the newspaper for the schedule of the shows and planning my evenings around them. It was a different time, before video recorders and streaming services made everything available anytime. Now I don’t have to wait for anything, but I also don’t feel the same excitement. I still love the classics, but I rarely watch them anymore. The new Christmas movies don’t appeal to me either. The last ones I saw were Polar Express and Christmas Vacation, and they are not exactly new. And while I don’t look forward to all the Christmas specials and movies as I once did in my youth I still treasure and remember those feelings that always return this time of year those feelings of wonder and joy that come back every December.
