It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and with summer slowly creeping its way back into our lives so have the thoughts of how to enjoy most of what it has to offer outdoors but this year it also includes watching TV. Since the start of baseball season if the Pirates had a Saturday afternoon game my buddy Frank would come over the house and we would hunker down in the basement with a few adult beverages and cheer on the Buc’s. Well, between now and July the Pirates have 7 straight Saturday games that have a 4 pm start which is great but it’s summer and I don’t want to be hunkered down in the basement watching baseball during the summer. So I bought a smart TV for the back patio and figured I’ll stream the game. That thought lasted for about a minute after learning it would cost 99 dollars a month. Sorry, A T & T Sports, I could subscribe to MLB.TV for a quarter of that price and watch more than just the Buc’s. Or I could wire the back patio and pay even less and just get another box. Watching TV outdoors brought back memories of being a kid when my mom on hot summer nights would roll the TV in front of the glass door so we could watch it outside on the porch. “Break out the pop corn we’re at the drive-in” which is something else that isn’t as convenient to do today as it was yesterday. Drive-in theaters were practically on every corner. The closest one to me now is about a half hour drive but the next best thing to that is out on my patio. While the screens not as large as a building I’m still outside and if the Pirates aren’t playing or doing it badly, I’m sure I can find a great movie streaming somewhere. Besides the concession stand is just a few feet away too. Come on Summer!
