It’s The Kielbasa Kid…

…and if you happened to see what looked like a crazy guy trying to fill up his gas can over the weekend that was me. What made me look crazy was the way I was trying to fill up the can. I was holding the can up in the air with my left hand while my right hand was trying to pump the gas into the can. Why? Because when I tried to fill the can while it was sitting on the ground the pump didn’t work. If I put the gas hose back into my gas tank the pump would work. To say I was yelling choice expletive words at this point would be an understatement. The gas would pump while it was elevated but not while pointing at the ground. So there I was holding the can in the air with one hand while pumping the gas with the other also elevated in the air. This went on for a few minutes until I realized that the hard rubber boot on the pump nozzle which I guess is some kind of safety precaution for those of us who have yet to master the art of pumping gas safely, the rubber boot turns out is spring action. When depressed the gas pump works. When its not depressed it wont pump gas. I apparently just put the nozzle of the pump into the gas can while not pushing down hard enough to depress the boot to make the pump work. But without knowing was depressing the rubber boot looking like a crazy man with a can in one hand and pump in the other elevated above my head just waiting for major spillage to happen which thankfully didn’t. I was able to fill my cans and leave wondering when something like this is going to happen again to me all for the sake of safety. Stay tuned.
