It’s The Kielbasa Kid…

…and to say were out of the woods yet is way too premature even with spring less than two weeks away but man has this been a winter that I would sign up for again next year. I’ll bet the folks in some parts of California and I don’t mean Pa will skip on the repeat button. How they managed to get the kind of snow that we would get on a consistent basis this time of year had me wondering if I even shoveled my driveway at all this year. Well after much negotiation with my brain I realized I didn’t and the most I did shovel was really just the sweep of a broom on the sidewalk and porch. I may have salted once and still have a half a bag left from last winter and an unopened one too but I’m ready. Like I said I don’t think we’re out of the woods just yet because it always seems that old man winter has at least one more surprise us his sleeve. I remember once as a kid going to church on a sunny Easter Sunday only to leave an hour later to what seemed like a blizzard. Speaking of the Blizzard, remember the Blizzard of ‘93? If you went to the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s day parade that year you do. Even if you didn’t you remember that day. Yeah the 30th anniversary of the Blizzard of ‘93 is coming up on Monday March 13th the day an extreme storm dumped a single day record of 23.6 inches of snow. It’s a record that still stands to this day as the most snowfall in a 24 hour period and one that the Meteorologists actually got right 5 days before the snow fell. It was the first time I heard thunder and saw lighting during a snow storm so yeah it’s been a mild winter so far but we may not be out of the woods yet. I got my fingers crossed but keep the snow tires on and the shovel on stand by just in case.
