It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…so how many times have you had to take a detour because of a road closure? Too many right? Talk about a thorn in your side especially if you’re heading for work. Your thinking will I make it on time? Even if you do your still late at what you normally do to start your day. First you see the flashing red lights and wonder is it a single lane or is it a whole lane closure? Then you wonder if you’ll have to turn around and go back to find an alternate route. The most recent wasn’t too bad since I had a chance to make a right just before the closure and a quick left so no delay. Then there was one on the turnpike but luckily it was just past the exit I was going to take so no delay. Then there was one that forced me to turn around and turn on the GPS. Are they a God send or what? Back in the old days it would have been pull off to the side of the road, grab the map out of the glove box and turn on the dome light hoping you’ll be able to see in the dark and find an alternate route. Now its just type in your destination and hope it doesn’t lead to a body of water or a dead end. Of course your GPS already knows about the road closure and is ready to take you through one lane roads through the boonies that can get a bit scary at 3 in the morning especially if the road your on doesn’t even look big enough for a puddle jumper which I’m currently driving. Weird things start to go through your head too like am I paying enough attention to what GPS is telling me or will I wind up in front of someone’s house with a guy on the front porch pointing a shot gun at me wanting to know if I’d like to come in a try some of his brothers Head Cheese. “My brother makes some really good Head Cheese”. The sad part is you know you’re not dreaming. Talk about starting your day a little later than usual. Did I tell you I hate road closures?
