It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and is it just me that it feels like this football season came and went a little too quick.. Maybe it was because for the first time since 2004 the season would not have Big Ben behind center. It was definitely filled with more questions about how the team would fair at that position than any other. But here we are, after next Sunday, one month away from the Super bowl in Glen Dale Arizona and the Steeler’s had a chance to enter the tournament. They took care of the first order of business by beating the Browns. Check. Buffalo had to knock off New England. Check. And the Jets had to beat Miami where it was a battle of the back up quarterbacks. One quarterback went to and won a super bowl when Joe Flacco was with Baltimore but did nothing to show he should be starting somewhere in the NFL after the Jets lost to the Dolphins back up quarterback, a 3rd stringer who was picked in the 7th round. So, for the Steelers to go to the playoffs their going to have to buy their own tickets. Who knew after starting the season 2 and 6 that Pittsburgh would come out of the bye week on Nov 13th and go 7 and 2? If anything the needle is pointing up for the Steelers which gives you hope that they won’t have to depend on other teams or other teams back up quarterbacks to help you get into the playoffs. Pittsburgh looks like they got themselves a franchise quarterback in Kenny Pickett. A wide receiver threat in George Pickens. Speaking of backups it looks like they got themselves one who continues to make a case to be a starter whenever he steps on the field. Conner Heyward plays offense like his brother Cam plays defense. Najee Harris came on strong at running back in the second half and maybe Jaylan Warren’s explosiveness when ever he’s given the ball provided a spark in Najee. I wish I could say the same about Dionte Johnson who went the entire season without a touchdown catch, came close Sunday but close as they say only counts in horse shoes. He continues to drop balls and run backwards after the catch but what do you want for 18 million dollars. Head coach Mike Tomlin makes it 16 straight of never having a losing season finishing 9 and 8 or as Mike Tomlin basher’s call it mediocrity and speaking of which what will be the final verdict on, sing it with me now, “Oh Canada”?
