It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and who knew the Christmas season would be so magical 50 years ago that an Immaculate reception took place at 3 Rivers Stadium. It seems like it was only yesterday. Okay, but if I had a nickel for every time, I’ve seen the replay and I’m talking before the current promo that’s running today, I’d have a vacation home in Jamaica. But to think 50 years later the Steelers and Raiders would meet again in Pittsburgh to celebrate that historic day sadly without the man responsible for it. It was like a punch to the gut when I first heard of Franco’s passing the other morning. I didn’t want to believe it until I read it myself and even then, I wasn’t convinced. I searched for more stories only to find more and more reports confirming what I didn’t want to believe was happening. Not this weekend. A weekend that Franco was so looking forward to but sometimes we don’t get to pick and choose. Sometimes it doesn’t work that way. So, this weekend we go from a celebration to mourning a man who gave so much to the city of Pittsburgh and everyone he personally touched in his life. A life that will be looked back on and celebrated this Christmas season and remembered for a long, long time. Thank you, Franco. Thank You.
