It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and in honor of mothers day a few thoughts about my mom who I only ran away from once but only for only a few hours, it starting getting dark. Luckily for me her worry for where I was outweighed any discipline, at least for that night. You didn’t want to get on her bad side. There was never a wait till your father comes home in our house, she was the boss. Then there was “if I didn’t do better in school I would be digging ditches for a living when I got older.” Mom didn’t know ditch diggers got paid better than DJ’s but then again my fingernails are cleaner. She made the best spaghetti sauce and turkey dressing that was like nothing else I’ve ever tasted. Thankfully my wife’s been able to duplicate the dressing not so much the spaghetti. When it came time for sweets for the holidays we could have opened a bakery. From the cookies to rolls and everything in between I don’t want to say I put on some weight but by the time I was in the 5th grade she was calling me her butter ball. Probably the funniest thing she ever did was ask me to find out where this beeping noise was coming from inside her house. She was convinced that it was my father come back to haunt her. Turned out the batteries in the smoke detector needed to be replaced and not dad. Either way I hope you and your mom have a Happy Mothers day!
