It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and I remember a time when it was a big joke as to the amount of coffee, I would drink every morning just to start my day. It’s not like I was the only person drinking coffee, but I may have been the only one who seemed to be around the coffee pot making sure there was always something fresh brewing. I was once asked,” is it true that you use two of those measured coffee packs to make one pot of coffee?  Sorry but no, although that rumor may have helped spark the idea of the comedy bit, “Bust-ass” the office blend with 9 times the caffeine of regular blend. There were those who wondered about my health and if I might be setting myself up for gall stones in the future. Well, it’s been over 30 years since that speculation and I was drinking coffee long before that so, so far so good. Of course, I drink my coffee straight, no sugar, no cream just black and that may be a good thing too. Either way today, after all those years it’s nice to see that the only thing that I might get from drinking coffee is added years to my life. New research shows that drinking up to 3 cups of coffee a day could do that. A study from the American College of Cardiology has found that drinking two to three cups of coffee a day can add years to your life. The study tracked more than 400,000 people for at least a decade and found coffee actually lowers the risk of heart disease and dangerous heart rhythms and is even good for folks who have heart disease. The study even showed that drinking more than three to six cups isn’t bad but probably won’t provide any additional benefits. The study also points out that this is for regular coffee only and not the kind of sugary creations you may find at Starbucks but I’m sure you can just order it black there too. So, some good news for change about a drinking habit that may be beneficial, especially those of us who like to…Bust Ass!
