…asking, why is daylight saving time still a thing? Why must we spring forward when it’s not even spring? But just like clockwork we will lose an hour sleep on Saturday night into Sunday morning. 2 am becomes 3 am and for the next week I’m Mr. Groggy or accident prone. Health wise I’ll bet I’ve shaved off at least a day from every year of my life since I’ve been springing forward and for what? Heart attacks spike almost 25% on the Monday following the time change forward. It’s been linked to increased rates of stroke, cancer, car accidents and depression. Just the fact daylight savings time is almost here depresses me. Every year there’s talk of eliminating it but talk is all we get. We never see any action just talk. Google daylight saving time and there are no lack of warnings as to how bad it really is but does anyone do anything about it? No. So here we are again sitting on the door step of another time change. Which means for some folks who are technically deficient at least the clock on their car’s dashboard that’s been off by an hour over the last 6 months will be correct for at least the next 6 months. And I was just getting used to it too.
