It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and man do I hate click bate. I know I’m not alone. The straw that broke the camel’s back was the headline “Gilligan’s Island Star is Almost 105”. It didn’t look like the normal click bait headline with a picture that teases us to look at how well or not a celebrity has aged. No, this one had a picture I didn’t recognize. So that’s how they got me. My click took me to a picture of Max Baer Jr. or Jethro Bodine of the Beverly Hillbillies with the headline, “You might have forgotten about these celebrities, but they are still alive and glowing” and the fact that he is 83 and worth $50 million dollars. Well, now I’ve got to Google Max Baer Jr. to see if he’s really 83. Yeah, he’s 83 and had an interesting career despite being type cast as Jethro Bodine. But what happened to the Gilligan’s Island star? So, I clicked next page. Now, there’s a story about Nancy Sinatra Frank’s daughter who did two songs that I bought when I was a kid. “You Only Live Twice” the theme song to the James Bond movie and Sugar Town. See what click bait has done to me. Now I’ve got to Google Nancy Sinatra. What happened to the story about Gilligan’s Island? Well at this point you know I’ve got to Google Gilligan’s Island, right? The only interesting thing I found out was that the Professor, Russell Johnson was born in Ashley Pa., which is south of Scranton, but he died in 2014 at the age of 89. So, who was the Gilligan star who is almost 105? No one! Tina Louise who played Ginger is the only one still with us at 87 and ironically living on an island called Manhattan. F#%* you click bait, now I got the Gilligan’s Island theme song rattling around in my head.
