It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and I saw something for the first time or just never paid attention before which is probably the case but I watched a video of soldiers plant flags at Arlington cemetery. They first put their boot at the front of the tombstone then placed the flag at the heel of their foot before moving on to the next. Never saw that before and thought how appropriate to ensure every flag would be in line with the next as we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for what we get to enjoy today and often take for granted. It’s been called the unofficial start to summer, the start of the grilling season and the start of the pool season. Too bad the start isn’t a bit warmer although kids would tell you 72 degrees which is the high for Memorial Day is just fine. Hell, I remember one summer my buddy Chico who was freshman at WVU had a frat brother with a boat that lived in The Rocks and we ended up water skiing up and down the rivers 3 on an overcast 60’s kind of day. Don’t think I’d be doing that today besides there’s plenty of time for that since Memorial Day will be part of three long weekends this summer. Yes the 4th of July is on Sunday this year but many businesses have set aside the 5th for employees to enjoy. There’s a whisky joke in there somewhere. It’s especially a long weekend for me since I’m using some saved up vacation time. Maybe I’ll have something exciting to write about when I get back or not.
