It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and Saturday night I watched a pre recorded high school football game that was played on Friday night and the first thing I thought of was, “man I wish we had that technology when I played high school football. But back when I played high school football, we didn’t have cable channels like we do today that not only show games live but replay them at a later date. I’m thinking man I would have loved to be able to watch the games that I played in the night before in the comfort of my own living room the following day. Unless I did something stupid like missing a tackle that led to a game winning touchdown for the other team. Then I would probably just wait till Monday to hear the coach wonder what’s up with the arm tackling. Yeah, we had film session on the Monday after we played the game on Friday night but there was no sound on the reel to reel’s and it was in glorious black and white. I often wonder whatever happened to all those old football reels and if they are stored away somewhere. I remember there being a room in the high school gym above the coach’s office where there were boxes filled with reels of old high school football games dating back to before I was in high school. Maybe that’s where I would find my old football memories too stashed away in a box somewhere above the coach’s office. Be nice if they were still there and it would be even nicer if someone at the high school would take those old reels and transferred them to digital and offer them for sale. Hey, it might make for a good fund raiser or not considering the cost of transferring them to digital. Then you got to factor in, other than the players, who would actually purchase a game that would not only be in glorious black and white but silent too? There I go again, talking myself out of something that I thought was a good idea. Like Charlie Brown believing Lucy would actually let him kick the football.
