It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…remember when the country shut down and people started to speculate as to whether or not there would be a baby boom in 9 months? Well, I don’t know about a baby boom but there could be a guitar god to rival Eric Clapton or any other of the guitar greats of our time in the not too distant future. A music research organization called Music Trades says that between 2007 and 2017 sales of electric guitars dropped about a third and for a while it appeared the guitar might be over. But because of the lockdown things have changed big time. Andy Mooney is the CEO of Fender Musical Instruments corporation which is a California based guitar company that has provided guitars to rock and roll performers since the 1950’s and 2020 has broken records. It will be the biggest year of sales volume in Fender history with record days of double-digit growth, e-commerce sales and beginner gear sales. He said back in March he never thought they would be where they are today. It turns out many young adults and teens, particularly females are helping fuel the guitar revival as they snap up guitars to deal with the stress of the pandemic. A guitar instructor in LA told the New York Times that he saw a huge jump in the number of people requesting to take one on one lessons with him remotely.  So, who knows maybe the next guitar God or Goddess will come out of this pandemic or like my kids guitars will wind up in the corner collecting dust while trying to sell it on eBay.
