It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…so did the Beatles really turn down a 1976 reunion because the opening act was a man wrestling a shark? That’s what Ringo Starr was quoted as saying as to why the Beatles turned down 250 million dollars in today’s money to reunite in 1976. Ringo said they all talked to each other about the thought of reuniting after breaking up 6 years earlier but when they found out that their opening act would be a guy wrestling a Great White Shark, they decided not to do it. You know as crazy as that sounds there just might be truth to that story because the guy who made the pitch to have them reunite was a promotor by the name of Bill Sargent.  I remember that name and of the deal he put together to have them reunite. People magazine did a story about him in 1976 and when the Beatles turned Sargent down, he decided to concentrate on his next project. Shark Wrestling. Sargent had just the person in in mind too, an Australian diver by the name of Wally Gibbins would quote, “fight to the death with a 14-foot, 2,500-pound killer shark in a lagoon of Western Samoa. To think a Beatles reunion in 1976 with even the technology of the time would have been unbelievable all down the drain because of a shark.
