It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…you know how we’re told something is bad for you then a couple of years later we’re told that it’s good for you now. You know like eggs, once they were bad for you now their good for you but only if you eat the yokes or the whites or the whatever. At least that didn’t take a hundred years to figure out like the advice we got about waiting a half hour after eating to swim or risk cramping up and drowning or something like that. Back in 1918 a publication called How to Swim, said that “a period of at least two hours should elapse between eating and entering the water” because if the water’s cold it could stop the digestive process and start severe cramping. Well, 101 years later we find out that modern science hasn’t been able to confirm this, and competitive swimmers actually eat before and during long distance swims. Makes you wonder how many people actually followed that logic anyway considering every public pool I ever went to had snack bars selling French fries and hot dogs unless snacking isn’t really considered eating.
