It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

and just announced is the lineup for the 50th Anniversary celebration of Woodstock. Not much of a celebration for us old farts though and it won’t even take place at the original site. Instead it will be held at Watkins Glenn on Aug 16th 17th and 18th and feature a gazillion acts that most of us old enough to be at the original Woodstock won’t recognize because well, we’re old. Not too many of us are into the new music anymore. Most but not all of us are just not as hip as we used to be. The Majority of the bands that will appear will be relevant to the mostly under 30 crowd who I would imagine will make every effort possible to be part of the celebration and thus prove to be a money maker for the promoters. I don’t think they’ll have to worry about anyone busting down the gates to get in for free like the baby boomers did. Now there will be artists at the 50th anniversary who were there during that rain filled muddy disaster area back in August of 1969 like Santana. Not sure how many members except for Carlos are still around. Then you got Dead and Company which is what’s left of the Grateful Dead. David Crosby & Friends will be there so that rules out Graham Nash Steven Stills and Neil Young who are not David’s friends anymore. John Sebastian was at the original Woodstock as was Melanie and Country Joe McDonald but without the fish but they will also be at the 50th anniversary. There won’t be a Jefferson Airplane but two original members who were their David Cassidy and Jorma Kaukonen will be there as Hot Tuna and John Fogerty will be there but without the rest of Creedence Clearwater Revival who were at the original Woodstock. Led Zeppelin got an invite back in 1969 but turned it down but Robert Plant will be at the 50th anniversary with his band the Sensational Space Shifters. The Zombies broke up before the original Woodstock happened in 1969 but have since reformed and will make an appearance there this summer. Something else that will probably return to the 50th anniversary of Woodstock this summer is the hippy lettuce but unlike 50 years ago its been decriminalized a bit and medical marijuana is allowed. Of course, you should still stay away from the Brown Acid.
