…and we are about a week away from Thanksgiving a day where my diet goes out the window and apparently, I’m not alone. According to a new survey 45% of people postpone eating healthy until after New Year’s Day. The average person will gain 6 pounds during the holidays and over eats on 13 days between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. The top holiday temptations are Pies and cakes followed by cookies, treats, chocolate, family/home cooking and side dishes like stuffing, mashed potatoes etc. Thank God for button on pants because 40% of us will eat so much holiday food that we’ll have to start unsnapping them once we leave the table. I find wearing sweat pants works wonders even if it’s not a casual get together. And you know we’ve been programmed to eat more than usual during the holidays because what’s the number one resolution come New Year’s Day? To lose weight. So, we convince ourselves that come January 1st that will be our resolution, to lose weight so you don’t feel guilty while reaching for that cookie or second helping of pie. Sad to say just 12% of us will make it through the holidays without any weight gain at all. That’s the skinny dude sitting on the end of the couch that never gains a pound while wondering what surprise awaits him in the next piece of candy, he plucks out of the fancy box of chocolates that’s sitting on the end table in the living room.
