It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…on this the 17th anniversary of 911. A day everyone can remember where they were when they first heard about it. Since I worked nights 17 years ago I was no morning person and would sometimes sleep until 10 or 11:00 in the morning so I was in bed when the first plan struck One World Trade Center. My wife woke me up to the tragedy not long after it was breaking news on all the networks but even then, the thought of America being under attack never even entered my mind and just assumed it to be a terrible accident. Then 15 minutes later my son said I should probably get out of bed because another plane hit another part of the World Trade Center. I don’t think the gravity of the situation really hit me until another plane hit the Pentagon about a half hour. It was then that I came to grips with the reality that we were really under attack but from who and for what but it was from that point on I knew that life in America as I’ve known it up to that point was going to change and change it did like in the song by Don Henley, a New York Minute.
