…setting my sites for first 3-day weekend of 2018 but when you think about it there are only two 3-day weekends in a calendar year anyway. Memorial Day and Labor Day. The 4th of July falls on a Wednesday this year so no 3-day weekend there. Man, that week’s going to suck unless you surround it with a vacation. Think about it. You work two, then you shut it down, then you work two, then you shut it down. Talk about a roller coaster. As for this weekend I’ve got no plans except for sleeping in a lot. It is the weekend for the cousin on my mom’s side’s family reunion which they have been doing every Memorial Day weekend since they got married in 1969. The story goes everyone in the wedding party went golfing the morning of the wedding. So, every year since, he organizes a golf outing the Saturday before Memorial Day and on Sunday everyone gets together for a big picnic which includes a horse shoe tournament. I’m not a golfer but will try my luck with the shoes and sometimes even make it into the 2nd round. The winning pair takes home a plaque with a horse shoe on it called “The Majewski” which is his last name. This year their doing a corn hole tournament for the first time. Of course, the big question will be whether or not the weekend will be a rain out. It won’t be the first time and is kind of fun watching everyone gather under the picnic pavilion to avoid the downpour and flashes of lighting which generates a few screams especially from the grown ups. Either way at least I won’t have to get up early for work the next day and hopefully neither will you. And if you run into a Vet this weekend, thank him or her for their service. In fact on Memorial day we’ll be serving up the best patriotic favorites all day long on Classic Hit’s 99 The Pickle.
