It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and experts warn that changes in the U.S. power grid could slow down older clocks. Hey, changes in the U.S. power grid is why mine is flashing next to my bed. It’s better known in my house as a power outage. Every time I correct the time we have another power outage so I don’t bother. If I need to know the time I just grab my phone otherwise the one that’s powered by the grid keeps on flashing unless my wife corrects it and that’s when you can expect another change in the power grid or as we call it another power outage. No, here’s the story. Apparently, researchers from the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory have found that because of a change in federal energy regulations your clock might be gaining or losing a few seconds over time. Electric clocks keep time based on the pulses of the electric current and in the past, regulators required power companies to correct the rate but last year the requirement was quietly eliminated so time could drift by as much as seven and a half minutes. Don’t know if that’s going to be a good excuse for being late for work but you might miss the bus. Again, that’s if you have an older clock. Not sure how old our clock is but it keeps a steady flash.
