It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and I started to wonder why it seems that I’ve had a smart phone longer than any other phone. It’s only been a couple of years since I moved away from a flip phone but the fact that I rely on it for so many things makes it feel like it’s been a part of my life for a much longer period of time. Maybe because I use it for more things than just a phone. If I wanna hear music theirs a app for that. The same goes for internet radio which makes listening to the pickle a lot easier with the forever media app. I used to have a portable TV in the garage but had to ditch it because it only received analog signals. Even if it were digital I would have probably ditched it to another part of the house or not because I can stream TV from my phone too. I started thinking about that last Sunday and just sat back in amazement at how far we’ve come and wondered how far we’ll go. To think I grew up with 3 TV Channels, a transistor radio and 45 rpm records while my parents grew up with no TV and commercial radio that was in it’s infancy. If you wanted to play a record it had to be played at 78 speed and you needed to crank the Victrola to get it to spin and that was state of the art entertainment. Today you can hit a button on your car’s steering wheel and hear a female voice say to you, “line in please say a command” to which I say “Blu Tooth Audio” and everything on my phone is now part of my cars sound system. It’s something I never thought of when I was in the 3rd grade and that’s only because I figured we’d be living like the Jetsons by now but I’ll bet we’re close.
