…wondering if the Steelers should be giving Colin Kaepernick a call because after two pre-season games I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable with the Pittsburgh’s back up situation at quarterback. I expected to see improvement from Joshua Dobbs, their 4th round draft pick out of Tennessee but he looked just as bad in his second start as he did in his first which Dobbs should feel lucky to even get. Usually the starter, Big Ben would at least get a series in the first game and maybe a little more in the second limiting the two straight starts Dobbs apparently didn’t take advantage of and looks lost for. And what’s with the abdominal problem that has sidelined Landry Jones in practice and the exhibition games that the Steelers have Bart Houston on the field who I suspect is an extra body for training camp but still looked better than the Dobbs kid at quarterback. So when I hear rumblings that the Steelers should bring in Colin Kaepernick, I’m thinking why not? They already had the controversial Micheal Vick on the team for a cup of coffee why not Kapernick? He only led the Niners to the Superbowl a few years ago and while he’s not the same quarterback that he used to be he does know what it’s like to play against NFL caliber teams and has to be better insurance than the policy the Steelers are peddling now with Jones, Dobbs and Houston and who knows the change of scenery might be what the Doctor ordered for Kapernick.
