…and what a sight to see at a freezing Heinz Field where the fans brought out the warmth for Big Bens final home game in Pittsburgh who still can make the playoffs. Win Sunday in the season finale against the Ravens in Baltimore and hope the Jacksonville Jaguars upset the Indianapolis Colts. It’s not outside the realm of possibilities of that happening. While Jacksonville has only won two games this season one of those wins came against the Buffalo Bills when Jacksonville out kicked them 9-6. But here is what really blows me away. Should the Jag’s beat the Colts then it might be in the best interest of the L.A. Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders play to a tie in the NFL’s regular season finale. Why play to win because a tie will give both teams a ticket to the playoffs. Why beat each other up. Take a knee all night and save yourself for the post season. I don’t know all the details as to why that will be the case because that’s outside of my nerd range but talk about the possibilities. Oh, and one more thing a tie would eliminate Pittsburgh. If anything, there will be a lot of scoreboard watching since the Steelers Ravens and Jacksonville Colts games are both 1pm starts this Sunday. But should the Jag’s lose Sunday and whatever the outcome in Baltimore the Steelers behind Head Coach Mike Tomlin will have 15 straight seasons without a losing record which is an NFL record that was held by the late Marty Schottenheimer with the Browns and Chiefs. Meanwhile Big Ben will have done something no other quarterback has done, go his entire 18-year career without ever having a losing season. What an era for Steelers football that we were fortunate enough to be a part of.
