…and I heard an ad the other day that stated “home of the 80 cent wings”. I’m sorry but what happened to the 25 cent wings? Believe it or not there was a time when I thought that was expensive because I can go back to a time when 10 cent wings were the deal. I know, “tell us more Grand Pa”. Okay, how about pizza, 10 cents a slice and that included pepperoni! That’s what it was when I was a kid and my dad would get a gallon of root beer from the root beer stand to wash it down with. Now here is something that I always thought was expensive, Lobster. There was a time when the crustaceans were not considered a delicacy and once were cheaper than jumbo, or bologna just in case you not from around here. Lobster now enjoyed by the upper crust of society was considered the cockroaches of the sea and because it was cheap was fed to prisoners back in the late 1800’s. Many point to World War II for its popularity because lobster wasn’t rationed like other foods so more people started eating it and realized just how good it was. Next thing you know it became established as a delicacy, the prices started to rise and the rich families were ordering it for their weddings. What does that have to do with 80 cent wings? Nothing, but I do have a craving for some pizza and root beer. Maybe some creepy crawlies later.
