…well I guess this is it. The regular season is in the books. The playoff field is set and begins with what is called a Super Wild Card Weekend. Three games on Saturday and three Games on Sunday with the Steelers Browns at Hienz Field closing out the first weekend on Sunday night. 6 games…6! And they stick the Steelers Browns game on Sunday night. Why? What are the odds? But the big question is will a championship be crowned without covid playing a part in the outcome. Covid certainly played a part in interrupting the regular season but there was always a tomorrow. There is no tomorrow in the playoffs. I guess the big question right now is if Joe Hayen will be back in time for that game since he tested positive. How big a hit will the Steelers take if Joe has to miss that game. There is no guarantee he’ll be back unless the Steelers advance. While it wouldn’t have helped the Steelers situation the NFL should have instituted a Bubble system for the playoffs. Yeah it would have to be a big bubble but this is a big country. They should have worked out a deal where they could isolate teams like they did in the NHL and the NBA. I know coach Tomlin likes to say the next man up but you know how well that worked when Big Ben was lost for the year. What happens if a Patrick Mahomes or an Aaron Rodger can’t play? Oh right, next man up. Mason Rudolph was the next man up yesterday and man what a difference a game makes when receivers hold on to the ball. Mason actually outplayed Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. Rudoulf found the deep ball and the endzone a couple of times. One was a 4th and 10 touchdown pass to Claypool. Not bad when you consider it was the lSteelers JV team against a Browns team needing to win to make the playoffs. Their reward? Playing the Steelers varsity team next Sunday night at Hienz Field. Sunday night! Why Sunday night? What are the odds? Woof Woof!
