It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and can we talk Steelers football? Is that alright? This past Sunday’s game is what you would call a trap game. It’s when a team with the better record let’s their guard down when they face a team with a lousy record and lose. You could have said that last week when the Steelers pulled out a win in Dallas who like this weeks opponent only had 2 wins going into the game. But unlike last weeks opponent this week’s opponent were the Bungles. The Bungles didn’t earn that moniker for nothing. And when it comes to playing the Steelers they always seem to bungle it. They bungled it a week before even playing the game when someone in the organization posted a video from 2005 of a former Cincinnati player by the name of TJ Houshmandzadeh disrespecting the Terrible Towel. He is seen using the towel to clean off the mud from his shoes shortly after beating the Steelers 38-31. Both would meet in a Wild Card game a few weeks later and wouldn’t you know it the curse of the towel came back to haunt the Bungles. It was the game where Pittsburgh’s nose tackle Kimo Von Oelhoffen knocked Cincinnati’s quarterback Carson Palmer out of the game on just the second play from scrimmage with a severe knee injury that tore his ACL, PCL, and MCL. Carson was never the same after that while the Steelers went on to win one for the thumb that season. There have been other instances of the Terrible Towel being disrespected only to have the curse of the Towel prevail in the end. The difference this week was that no current player from Cincinnati disrespected the towel. No, that came from someone within the organization or so we we’re led to believe but it didn’t matter, disrespect is disrespect no matter who it comes from and it took it’s toll on the Bungles early. They fumbled a punt away on what would have been their first possession of Sunday’s game and it was all downhill after that for Cincinnati who became Pittsburgh’s 9th victim. Now the Steeler’s head to Jacksonville Sunday looking for win number 10 against the Jaguars who have only 1 win on the season. So I guess you could call next Sundays game another trap game Pittsburgh need’s to avoid to stay undefeated. So far no videos have surfaced of anyone from Jacksonville disrespecting the Terrible Towel…yet!
