It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…so have you taken down your Christmas tree yet? I had a neighbor who I swear was taking the decorations off there tree shortly after opening presents and at the curb the next day. It’s funny, some years my wife starts to take down the decorations on New Years day and then there are some years when it would be a few days after the New Year. But did you know there is a best time to take down your Christmas tree? A website called Delish claims that you can trace the right time to take down your tree back to the 4th Century. It seems Christians marked the end of the Christmas season on the 12th night or 12 nights after Christmas which is also known at the Eve of the Epiphany. That marks the Three Kings or Wise Men visiting baby Jesus and is either celebrated on January 5th or January 6th depending on if you count Christmas day as one or not. Tradition dictates that this night, which ever date you believe is the best night to take down your Christmas decorations. The site also says waiting too long after this date will bring bad luck. What a minute, you mean that even goes if you had pork and sauerkraut on New Years day? And why is eating pork and sauerkraut supposed to give you good luck? I guess that means my lucky donut with a coin baked inside isn’t good enough to ward off bad luck including 7 other different foods that will do the trick too. All in an effort to attract abundance and prosperity in the coming year. Funny the only abundance and prosperity I seem to accumulate is around my waist line
