It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

… and you know there are fans and then there are fans who really, really, love their team. They buy the jerseys, the mugs, the posters, you name it they got it. They get their face painted on game day and go through various rituals in hopes that something they do will help their team bring home a victory. Now I’m a fan of all 3 sports teams in Pittsburgh but I confess that my love for football is over the top but not really, really over the top. The only thing I make sure that I have with me during Steeler games is my Terrible Towel which I’ve had for over 30 years and it looks like it too. In fact, due to superstition it’s only been washed one time. If I forget to thread it thru my belt loop before kickoff and the Steelers lose then it’s my fault. So, while I’m a fan I really don’t go over the top like some folks. I can’t image what this Philadelphia Eagle fan does for game day but I know what he did during the Eagles Super bowl victory parade. He poured his grandfather’s ASHES into a random Eagles players hand. Jason Kelce, the Eagles center said one of his teammates and he says he doesn’t remember which one came up to him with ashes in their hands said, “Kelc, I don’t know what to do. Somebody just poured their grandfathers ashes in my hands.” Kelc said he didn’t know what to do either but for some reason he can’t remember which teammate it was who got the ashes which seems a bit odd but that’s his story and he’s sticking to it. Can you image being that much in love with your team that you would feel a need to share a loved one’s ashes with them. Did this guy and his grandfather, who has been reduced to ashes watch the games together? Was that this guy’s dying wish? Like I said there are fans and then there are fans.
