It’s the Kielbasas Kid…

…so how big are pies during Thanksgiving at your house. I remember Thanksgiving at my sister’s house one year where I swear she made one to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth from pumpkin to apple, lemon meringue, pecan, peach, and cherry. The only worry was not to run out of whipped cream. My wife would make different kinds too but this year she asked me to pick one and I said apple. It’s my favorite but she said I just made you an apple so I went with the traditional pumpkin because that’s what is the most liked on Thanksgiving right? Wrong. According to Pillsbury who just came out with their list of the most popular Thanksgiving Day pies apple tops the list at 32%. Pumpkin is next at 23% but coming in at number 3 is one I had never heard of anyone making for thanksgiving and if they did I was never at their house but coming in at number 3 of the most popular pie to have on thanksgiving was, drum roll please, Chicken Pot Pie! Chicken Pot Pie is a meal in itself but 22% in this Pillsbury poll said Chicken Pot Pie. That’s 1 percentage point of tying pumpkin as the 2nd most favorite thanksgiving day pie. Why not just make turkey pot pie and cover all your bases. Chicken pot pie beat out pecan pie which had 16% and the last place finisher sweet potato pie which got just 6% of the vote as the most favorite pie to have on Thanksgiving. You can’t even put whipped cream on top of chicken pot pie, well you can but Yuk! Chicken pot pie? Even Peter Percival Patterson’s Pet Pig named Porky didn’t list chicken pot pie as his favorite and if you don’t know who that is then listen Monday morning at 6:50 on 99.3 the Pickle and I’ll introduce you. I rest my case.
