It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and I wonder how far back the association of cops and donuts first began. It seems like you can’t talk about one without the other. I remember early one morning I was going to work before sun came up and I was sitting at a red light when I saw the lights of a police cruiser in my rear view mirror approaching. The cruiser passed me by and went right through the red-light. When it changed, I was able to see the lights of the police car a short distance away so being curious I decided to speed up to see what I could see and wouldn’t you know it. The cop pulled into the local donut shop. Maybe he had inside information that they were coming out of the oven or something. But you know what’s nice is being a cop and having a sense of humor too. Take for instance a few Kentucky police officers who responded to a Krispy Kreme doughnut truck that was engulfed in flames. The Lexington Police Department posted a few photos on line depicting heartbroken officers with their heads cast down and captioned it, “no words”. The driver escaped but not the doughnuts inside. The University of Kentucky police department wrote, we feel your loss. We donut what else to say.
