It’s the Kielbasa Kid…

…and I saw a tweet by Bob Labriola from Steelers Digest who wrote that only 3 other teams in the NFL to come up with fewer turnovers than the Steelers this season included the Baltimore Ravens. The lack of turnovers by this Steelers team is one of the big reasons why Pittsburgh lost games they should have won. How ironic then that it was a Ravens interception of Baker Mayfield in an area on the field that if completed would have put the Cleveland in field goal range to win the game. Instead the Steelers will be heading into the off season earlier than anyone expected when just a month ago they were 7-2-1 and in full command of the AFC North. Another reason for the lack of a post season appearance by the Steelers, according to many a Steelers fan, is their head coach. But then again the Steelers could lose the first game of the season and the never ending drum beat of fire Mike Tomlin would begin despite never having a losing season as a head coach. Long time Pittsburgh Sports reporter Alan Robinson tweeted, “c’mon people, calm down. The Steelers last fired a coach (Bill Austin) exactly 50 years ago this month. How many times do you want them to do it in a century?” I did see a funny sign at the game Sunday, “Rooting for the Browns is like kissing your sister.” One thing is for sure, after decades of trying to find their quarterback, Baker Mayfield looks like the real deal for Cleveland unless the Browns organization figures out a way to screw that up too. Then add Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson in the mix and it looks like the AFC North just got a whole lot tougher to win not only for next season but in years to come. Of course both rookie quarterbacks could have sophomore slumps. Here’s hoping the changing of the guard is still a few years away but you’ve got to wonder how much more Big Ben’s got in the tank considering he’ll be 37 in March while Bengal quarterback Andy Dalton isn’t far behind and will turn 32 next October. Speaking of October. How soon will it before we can see the Pirates in the World Series?  Only 87 days till opening day!
